Fishing Reports- March 30

Bow River Report – March 30, 2016

All of this great weather seems to be getting springtime activities geared up. The last week has seen a bunch more fish rising to midges, and there have been a decent number of Skwalas kicking around.

Nymphing continues to be pretty consistent, with deep rigs working the best.

Streamers have been working good as well. A number of people have been dead drifting small leech patterns and doing very well.

Hatches:  Midges, Skwalas

Dry Flies: Wilcox Micro Midge, Griffiths Gnat, Salinga’s Low Rider Skwala,
                 Bitterfork Skwala
Nymphs:   Atomic Worm, Bubble Gum Worm, Conestone, Ice Nymph, Zebra
                 Midge, Super Pupa-Olive

Streamers:  Geek Leech, Gartside Leech, B/H Mini Leech, Clouser Minnows.

Crowsnest River Report – March 30, 2016

The Crow, and Oldman, have been fishing pretty well of late. Check the wind forecasts before heading down. Reports of rising fish on both the Crow and Lower Oldman. The Crowsnest is very low right now but this week’s snow may help with that.

Fishing Reports - March 10

Bow River Report – March 10, 2016

The river has been fishing pretty darn good, especially for this time of year. Deep nymph rigs will give you the most consistent success, but streamer fishing has been pretty good as well.

Patterns/rigs for deep nymphing consist of a worm pattern or stonefly nymph, combined with either a midge pupa or caddis pupa pattern trailer.

Dark, heavy streamers will give you the best returns.

A few rising fish on midges have been showing up, best bet for that is right at the end of the day.

The fish seem to have lost none of their amazing weight from last summer/fall and are in great shape.

Hatches:  Midges

Dry Flies: Wilcox Micro Midge, Griffiths Gnat

Nymphs:   Atomic Worm, Bubble Gum Worm, Conestone, Ice Nymph, Zebra
                 Midge, Super Pupa-Olive

Streamers:  Geek Leech, Gartside Leech, Clouser Minnows.
