Fishing Report-April 2

Bow River Report – April 2, 2015

Before this cooling trend hit, things were starting to shape up pretty good. Once things warm up again we should be in great shape.

Stonefly nymphs are becoming more effective and small midge larva patterns are working well. The ubiquitous San Juan Worm has also been effective.
There are zillions of Water Boatmen around this spring so a Boatman pattern or balck Copper John will work as well.

The big news is that, over the last week, there have been a good number of rising fish very late in the day on midges and in the last couple of days there have been BWOs and fish eating them.

Hatches: Midges, BWOs, Water Boatman

Streamers: Clouser-Brown/White, Geek Leech-Purple,

Nymphs: Conestone, Jimmy Legs, Wire Worm

Dry Flies: Stacker Flag Dun-BWO, Transitional Midge,
Quigleys Cluster-Peacock.

Crowsnest River Report – April 2, 2015

We haven’t been hearing much from the Crow for some reason and haven’t had a chance to check it out ourselves. Given the spring conditions, and the fact it normally fishes quite well around now, it might be a good idea to check it out.

Hatches:  Midges, BWO’s

Streamers:  Bead Crystal Bugger, Crystal Bugger-Olive, Kiwi Muddler

Nymphs:  B/H Pheasant Tail, Jimmy Legs
