Careful What You Wish For!
Remember a little while back when I was ranting about our low water levels on the Bow?
Well, it seems that the powers that be (whoever they are) decided to completely screw with us.
Below are readings in CMS from the Bow Starting Thursday at 12:30 PM and ending at
9:15 AM on Friday.

FISHING REPORTS
Bow River Report –September 28, 2010
Indian Summer has arrived in a big way. It actually got kind of hot this past weekend. This should throw a restart at the river and we might see a little more action on the Hoppers/October Caddis. There are still, amazingly, caddis around and the odd fish eating them. Pseudos are about in numbers and, again, there are fish rising to them.
Boatmen are going great guns and now that the Highwood is clear the bottom end is offered up for some great Boatman fishing.
Hatches: BWO’s, Water Boatmen, October Caddis
Streamers: Party Boy, Silvey’s Sculpin Leech (Black w/ Olive, White Head), Marabou Clousers, Articulated Leech-Black or Purple, Kiwi Muddler
Nymphs: Hogan’s Chubby Cousin, Bloom’s Tung Dart, Chamois Leech, Tung Stud, TB Super Pupa, Peacock Water Boatman, Fox’s Water Boatman
Dry Flies: Bloom’s Parachute Caddis, Bloom’s CDC Caddis, Berrett’s Barred Leg-Golden Stone, Neversink Stone Popper, Chubby Chernobyl, FrankenHopper, Etha Wing Dun-BWO
Crowsnest River Report – September 28, 2010
Have not heard too much from the Crow. It blew out pretty bad last week but should be coming back into shape by now.
Hatches: BWO’s, Hoppers, Ants
Streamers: Brunette Leech, Chamois Leech.
Nymphs: Pheasant-Tail, Hare's Ear, Copper John, Tung Stud, and San Juan Worm
Dries: Chernobyl Ant-Black/Tan, Etha-Wing Dun-BWO, Etha Wing Emerger-BWO, Frankenhopper, Rainy’s Grand Hopper
High Country River Report – September 28, 2010
High, sometimes dirty water summed up things on the High Country stuff late last week. This warm weather is getting things back to relative normal. There has been some very good fishing in the last couple of days.
Hatches: BWO’s, Ants
Streamers: Brunette Leech, Chamois Leech, Large, olive or white streamers for Bull Trout.
Nymphs: Pheasant-Tail, Hare's Ear, Copper John, Tung Stud, and San Juan Worm
Dries: Etha Wing Dun-BWO, Rainy’s Grand Hopper, BWO Thorax, Wilcox Glo-Ant

FISHING REPORTS
Bow River Report –September 21, 2010
Fishing in the last week has been like fishing coastal Scotland, cold, grey, and wet. The fishing has been pretty good even though the comfort level has been a little off.
Baetis, Pseudos, and Boatmen are all in full swing, giving us some pretty awesome dry fly fishing.
Indian summer arrives later this week with temperatures expected to be in the high teens. Who knows how long it will last so you might want to take advantage.
Hatches: BWO’s, Water Boatmen
Streamers: Party Boy, Silvey’s Sculpin Leech (Black w/ Olive, White Head), Marabou Clousers, Articulated Leech-Black or Purple, Kiwi Muddler
Nymphs: Hogan’s Chubby Cousin, Bloom’s Tung Dart, Chamois Leech, Tung Stud, TB Super Pupa, Peacock Water Boatman
Dry Flies: Bloom’s Parachute Caddis, Bloom’s CDC Caddis, Berrett’s Barred Leg-Golden Stone, Neversink Stone Popper, Chubby Chernobyl, FrankenHopper, Etha Wing Dun-BWO
Crowsnest River Report – September 21, 2010
Fall conditions on the Crow. Low, very clear water, with pretty spooky fish. A very cool time to fish the Crowsnest if you’re into the technical stuff. The cloudy weather will mean lots of Blue Winged Olives. Warmer weather for later this week will allow for less layers if you head out.
Hatches: BWO’s, Hoppers, Ants
Streamers: Brunette Leech, Chamois Leech.
High Country River Report – September 21, 2010
Warm weather is coming later this week so for those of who love the fall BWO fishing on the Cutty streams now is the time to go.

Passion For Tarpon
I got my copy of Passion for Tarpon about 2 weeks ago. Pretty stunning book, just what I expected from Andy Mill.
A quote from the publisher sums it up:
"I cannot say enough about this magnificent production—it is no ordinary fishing book. Everything you have heard is true and then some! One of our seasoned and not easily impressed proofreaders was so excited that he said he felt as if he were alternately reading Krakhauer and Hemingway; another said it may be the most well-rounded fishing book he has ever read. You are in for a real treat". —Thomas R. Pero
The publisher is not making this book available to distributors or shops, you have to buy it direct.
Unfortunately, the shipping charge is sick! ($100 USD book, $50 shipping). It does get better if you order lots. I am ordering a bunch in a few weeks. To save on shipping you can call us and we'll add one to our order and get shipping down under $20/book. * You do have to pay us for the book first though.

FISHING REPORTS
Bow River Report –September 16, 2010
Blue Wings and Boatmen! That pretty much sums things up right now. The unusually autumn like weather has brought on Baetis and Pseudos, and there have been fish rising to them.
Boatmen are in full swing. The slower, deep banks will produce better for the most part. Try a Boatman behind a streamer or a couple of BM’s together.
Hopper fishing has seemed to come to grinding halt. Some of the eats we have been getting are more likely October Caddis responses than Hopper eats.
Hatches: BWO’s, Water Boatmen
Streamers: Party Boy, Silvey’s Sculpin Leech (Black w/ Olive, White Head), Marabou Clousers, Articulated Leech-Black or Purple, Kiwi Muddler

For those who enjoy September and October in the High Country, Mother Nature is screwing you up pretty badly. Some areas have seen snow already.
Having said that, on the reasonable weather days the reports from the Cutty streams have been pretty darn good. Smaller BWO patterns are the go-0to for dries.

FISHING REPORTS
Bow River Report –September 9, 2010
Dry fly fishing has been pretty good of late. Blue Winged Olives as well as Hoppers offering the best success. Although our weather seems to be very Fall-like, it has produced some very good fishing days.
There have been a few fairly epic streamer days when the weather has been socked in. River levels are very low so there are structures (bars and buckets) that are accessible and fishable. A lot of them even with floating lines.
The Boatman fishing is in full swing so an appropriate pattern behind a streamer, by itself, or under a Hopper will produce.
Hatches: BWO’s, Hoppers, Water Boatmen
Streamers: Party Boy, Silvey’s Sculpin Leech (Black w/ Olive, White Head), Marabou Clousers, Articulated Leech-Black or Purple
Nymphs: Hogan’s Chubby Cousin, Bloom’s Tung Dart, Chamois Leech, Tung Stud, TB Super Pupa, Peacock Water Boatman
Dry Flies: Bloom’s Parachute Caddis, Bloom’s CDC Caddis, Berrett’s Barred Leg-Golden Stone, Neversink Stone Popper, Chubby Chernobyl, FrankenHopper, Etha Wing Dun-BWO
High Country River Report – September 9, 2010
This past week saw snow in the high country on a couple of occasions. That aside, the fishing has been pretty good when the weather has been OK. Smaller bugs (Blue Winged Olives) are the go-to dry flies.
Hatches: Caddis, Olives
Streamers: Brunette Leech, Chamois Leech, Large, olive or white streamers for Bull Trout.
Nymphs: Pheasant-Tail, Hare's Ear, Copper John, Tung Stud, and San Juan Worm
Dries: Spun Hair Dun-PMD, Etha Wing Dun-BWO, Rainy’s Grand Hopper, BWO Thorax

FISHING REPORTS
Bow River Report –September 1, 2010
Well, Autumn seems to be over for a week or so. Dry fly fishing on the Baetis (BWO), as well as Pseudos was very good this past Sunday. I’m not sure whether the giddiness displayed by the three anglers in our boat was from very good dry fly fishing, or stage 2 hypothermia.
Things are much warmer now and the dry fly fishing has remained. Hopper fishing has been surprisingly good, with rising fish on Caddis and Pseudos as well.
Nymphing has been weird. Hopper-Dropper stuff is good one day, not so good the next. Sight fishing with small bead heads has been quite good. I don’t know why the Hopper-Bead fishing hasn’t been more consistent.
River levels are very low so there are structures (bars and buckets) that are accessible and fishable. A lot of them even with floating lines.
Hatches: Caddis, BWO’s, Tricos, Hoppers
Streamers: Party Boy, Silvey’s Sculpin Leech (Black w/ Olive, White Head), Marabou Clousers, Articulated Leech-Black or Purple
Nymphs: Hogan’s Chubby Cousin, Bloom’s Tung Dart, Chamois Leech, Tung Stud, TB Super Pupa.
Dry Flies: Bloom’s Parachute Caddis, Bloom’s CDC Caddis, Berrett’s Barred Leg-Golden Stone, Neversink Stone Popper, Chubby Chernobyl, FrankenHopper, Etha Wing Dun-BWO
Crowsnest River Report – September 1, 2010
Late summer/ early Fall conditions on the Crow. Low, very clear water, with pretty spooky fish. A very cool time to fish the Crowsnest if you’re into the technical stuff.
Hatches: Caddis, Western Olives, Hoppers
Streamers: Brunette Leech, Chamois Leech.
Nymphs: Pheasant-Tail, Hare's Ear, Copper John, Tung Stud, and San Juan Worm
Dries: Chernobyl Ant-Black/Tan, Neversink Caddis, Fat Albert-Black, , Etha-Wing Dun-BWO, Etha Wing Emerger-BWO, Frankenhopper, Rainy’s Grand Hopper
High Country River Report – September 1, 2010
The general consensus from anglers coming into the shop is that all of the high country streams are now getting into normal shape. Wadeable water levels, with clear water has meant pretty good fishing of late.
Hatches: Few Stoneflies, Caddis, Olives
Streamers: Brunette Leech, Chamois Leech, Large, olive or white streamers for Bull Trout.
Nymphs: Pheasant-Tail, Hare's Ear, Copper John, Tung Stud, and San Juan Worm
Dries: Berrett’s Barred Leg Stone, Neversink Caddis, Fat Albert-Black, ParaTrooper-Green Drake, Spun Hair Dun-PMD, Berret’s Emerging Green Drake, Etha Wing Dun-BWO, Rainy’s Grand Hopper
