FISHING REPORTS

Bow River Report –August 3, 2011

Fishing has been considerably better in the last couple of days. River levels have dropped back to where they were about a week ago. Visibility is still, an will likely continue to be, reduced from the Spray reservoir issue near Banff. However, visibility is not a limiting factor for fishing, there is more than enough at around 2 feet.

Been more and more Caddis fish around of late and we are still seeing PMD’s with fish eating them (weird for August!). seeing the odd fish come up for the big foam bugs but like the past couple of years by mid-July a lot of the fish are very afraid of anything that looks like that.

Stonefly nymphs and bead heads fished under a dry fly or indicator continue to fish well.

Streamer fishing has been, for the most part, fabulous. It might not be a popular opinion, but I don’t mind if the water stays this height and color until September.

Although Legacy is advertised as open, it is very difficult to use and only serious four wheel drives will work. Good idea to only use the upper (old) launch at Carseland, the lower (point) is silted up badly.
