Bow River Report –October 16, 2014
The Boatman stuff has been getting a bunch better over the last week. Although a lot of people fish these as a dropper rig or under an indicator, try fishing the Boatman pattern by itself or behind a small Clouser. Remember, short, twitching strips with the Boatmen and slower banks and inside seams are often best.
Finally have some cloud cover over the last couple of days, which provided a few more bugs. Hopefully our fall Baetis get rolling a little better. Still getting eats on October Caddis patterns. One shop customer had his best “hopper” day of the year last week with a whole bunch of fish on small foam hopper patterns.
Heavier nymph rigs with San Juan Worms, etc. continue to beat the tar out of them. There have been people drifting who have hooked 40+ fish in a day on these rigs of late.

Crowsnest River Report – October 16, 2014
Unfortunately, all reports we have had from the Crow over the last week have indicated very tough fishing. The Crow usually gets very “techie” at this time but it sounds like it’s downright hard.
Try doing some sight fishing on the slower runs and tailouts. If you spot fish, throw a small Boatman pattern, it can often be very effective.
Hatches: BWO’s, Water Boatmen.
Streamers: Bead Crystal Bugger, Crystal Bugger-Olive, Kiwi Muddler
Nymphs: B/H R/L Hares Ear, B/H Pheasant Tail, Copper John, Peacock Boatman.
