Bow
River Report – August 5, 2015
After a week of
nervously watching water temperatures and levels, the storm events of Tuesday
provided a welcome relief. The large amounts of hail that fell in the city will
be very helpful.
If we get the
continued cloudy, cooler days at the end of this week, fishing should get a
bunch better.
Fishing of late
has consisted mostly of streamer fishing, which has produced some very nice
fish. Not a lot of them, but some nice big fish.
Heavier nymph
rigs have also produced well if fished in the deeper, mid-river structures.
For those who
have stuck with it, there’s been the odd fish up on Hopper patterns. Kind of
have to focus on bars and riffles. The best success has been on structures that
are more mid-river. With the warm water, there hasn’t been many fish on the
banks. That will hopefully improve with some cooler water.
We recommend
that anglers play fish as quickly as possible, not taking the fish out of the
water. Until the water cools down, please skip that fish photo and get them
back on their way.

High Country River Report – August 5, 2015
Everything, from the Sheep south to the
border has been fishing pretty darn good. All of the east slope streams are
pretty low. Terrestrials like grasshopper and ant patterns are starting to work
quite well.
A lot of the east slope streams got some
moisture on Tuesday, including hail, which should help with water temperatures.
We recommend
that anglers play fish as quickly as possible, not taking the fish out of the
water. Until things cool down a little please skip that fish photo and get
them back on their way.
