Fishing Reports - July 7

Bow River Report – July 7, 2016

Still getting the odd fish on Stonefly dries in the early parts of the day but it doesn’t look like it will be a banner year for the big bug fishing. The good numbers of rising fish on Caddis we saw over the last couple of weeks has slowed down somewhat but is still pretty good. The Caddis fishing has been weird, there will be rising fish in a spot one night and then not the next.

Oh, and under the what will we see next tab, we saw the first Tricos middle of last week. Not many, but they were there.

Still hanging a decent number of fish on Stonefly nymphs, Caddis Pupa, and Pheasant Tails.

Streamer fishing has emerged as the most productive and consistent method for catching fish right now. We are seeing some really nice fish, both silver and yellow.

The weather patterns, consisting of afternoon convection and rain, over the last several days has been a lifesaver. Water temps and conditions are much improved from where they were middle of last week. Forecast rain for a couple of days over the next week, combined with normal temps (not 30 degrees) should be a big help.

Some of you might have noticed that we haven’t  been posting any fish photos. We’re still catching fish (honest) but with continued low water conditions it is the policy of CP that unless a fish is photographed in the water we will not post it. We are also refraining from photos as much as possible in favor of quicker releases.

High Country River Report – July 7, 2016

All of the high country has been fishing really well. Like every moving water in the area, they are just really low for this time of year.

The rains of the last 5 days have been a big help though. Hopefully that keeps up.
