Bow River Report –March 12, 2014
Now that Old Man Winter has released his firm grip a little, a number of people have been getting out on the river. Reports from the last few days have been pretty decent, even with a little dirty water later in the days.
Nymphs are the best choice for success right now but a streamer fished slow and deep will produce as well.
There have been lots of midges on the warm afternoons this week but not much sign of fish eating them.
And be careful of the ice! It’s unstable and can be dangerous.
Hatches: Midges
Streamers: Clouser-Brown/White, Geek Leech-Purple, ¼ Pound Bugger-Olive
Nymphs: G/B Werminator, Wire Worm, Atomic Worm, WMD Stone-Dark,
B/H Prince Nymph
Dry Flies: You can take a few Griffith’s Gnats/Midge dries with you. Not sure you’ll get a chance to use them.
