Fishing Reports-July 30

Bow River Report – July 30, 2015

Water temperatures have been much better in the last week. However, with the latest drop in flow volume (63 cms), combined with forecast heat for the next several days, we are going to have to watch things closely again.

Dry fly fishing has been annoyingly inconsistent of late, at times we have found decent numbers of fish on Tricos early in the day and on Caddis late, but overall the fish aren’t looking up on these bugs a whole bunch.

There is starting to be a little more activity on Hoppers, especially on the cloudy days. Try something a little outlandish and use a pink bodied hopper, it’s been working pretty good. A small bead head dropper has also been working pretty well.

Deep, nymph and indicator fishing has been producing good numbers, especially in the deeper sections of the river.

Streamer fishing has been pretty good for the most part, with light colored streamers working best.

We recommend that anglers play fish as quickly as possible, not taking the fish out of the water. Until the water cools down, please skip that fish photo and get them back on their way.
